Cheerio Bird Feeder

All you need is some string, some Cheerios and some willing hands - don't forget to tie a knot at one end or they just slide off!

Yesterday was one of those grey and gloomy 'what can I do with the kids' day. If it was just the older two, life wouldn't feel so difficult dragging them out, but with Tabi, I just can't seem to either get myself organized (bags, snacks, drinks, nappies, change of clothes, blar, blar blar!) or motivated, also it doesn't help that she is allergic to everything so even popping out to our local ice cream parlour or cafe for tea and cakes is a big no, no.

Yesterday afternoon we had a Blue Peter moment and Cheerios are definitely off the 'can't eat list' for Tabitha as long as they are the oat ones. Florence was playing with hers stringing them onto a piece of ribbon and making an edible bracelet, like the sweetie necklaces you can buy in the pick and mix part of sweet shops.

Well anyway to cut a long story short we decided to make a Cheerio necklace and bracelet for the birds and hang them up on our twisted willow out the back.

So far there has been no movement, either the birds do not like those 'little O's' or they can't work out whether to eat them or wear them!

... but it kept the girls entertained for at least an hour which is always a good thing and Tabi didn't feel left out (she decided to eat hers).

...and I found it very therapeutic, ditch the rescue remedy and start stringing Cheerios!!
