Pretty in Pink

For the past couple of weeks I have been watching this Hyacinth come into bloom and this last week the smell from it has been intoxicating.

You can smell it wafting through the house, but naturally intensifies when you step into the kitchen where it is housed. For me this is the perfect place for it, in previous years at this time of year I have dotted Hyacinths around the house, but the smell has been over whelming and headache causing sickly, but this spot in the kitchen, under the extractor fan is just right!

It helps cleanse the kitchen when I have been cooking something smelly and it is not too overpowering...

...and when it's fragrance and bloom has passed it will be housed in the garden where all it's previous descendants are resting, to flower for years to come.
