I'm Nina, a photographer, film maker and forever wanderer.  Passionate about nature, the great outdoors and all of life's adventures.  This is the place where I keep all my 'field notes'

I Can't Ripple!

...but I can do a chevron stitch - well kind of.

It may be a little wonky with too many stitches in some places and not enough in others - I'm useless at keeping track! But basically it looks how I want it to and having a love affair with most things from the 70's (1970's that is!) I'm really liking the way this zig zags in a ziggity zaggity kind of way rather than all ripply- even that sounds like something from a children's programme from that era to me.

Anyhow, don't get me wrong I love ripples I really do and gawd knows how many times I've tried and given up. But it's that blooming first row that always gets me. I just cannot seem to get my first row to look remotely half decent or even.

I have wondered (as you do) if I did my foundation row then my first row as a row of plain double crochet and then start rippling on the second row - would that work?

I think if I was started off on the first two rows then I'd be OK.

Hey, ho for now though I will continue merrily zig zagging away to my hearts content.

Have a fab day and 'oh' by the way, many thanks to Vivienne at Green Rabbit Designs for suggesting this range of books to me - they are very, very lovely, thank you.
