Whimsy

I'm feeling a bit whimsy today, trying not to get swept up in the hype that is going on all over our little Island of a country today. Important.....for sure, but I just can't seem to get excited with either change or more of the same.

Anyway, back to my whimsey's and all that I'm loving at the moment.

Milder nights :: It's so nice just to leave the bedroom window open a crack and feel the gentle breeze waft around the curtains then be woken at dawn (natures alarm clock) by a glorious chorus - believe me in the depths of Winter this is definitely a no go as I have to be physically prised from my slumber, but at this time of year when all is lighter I really don't mind laying awake at the crack of dawn listening to the bird song for half an hour or so before drifting back off to sleep.

Dappled sunlight :: On the silver birch leaves, apple blossom that is just starting to pop and every little area her rays fall upon 'oh' and the drifts of bluebells that are swept across our garden at the moment, planted years ago by some previous occupant.

Then bringing armfuls in to enjoy their beauty....dotted here, there and everywhere around the house.

Green Gate :: A new candle still in it's box. I think I love the box as much as I love the candle..... how I do love Green Gate.

So much so I couldn't resist this little snack tin, both bought from here.

Red carnations :: A bunch for £2. So simply, yet so stylish - a splash of colour to brighten any washed out room.

Vintage :: A new (to me) but vintage tape measure thrifted from a charity shop. The age, the way it's been wrapped and weight of it all add to it's charm - now I feel like a proper dressmaker!

Bunting :: how I do love bunting. I could have it draped everywhere...if I had my way that is.

Though just for now I'll stick with this paper bunting in a vintage print bought yesterday with the Ideal Homes magazine. Not one of my normal reads, but I couldn't resist this jaunty little project all waiting to be sewn up later today on to some pretty stitched grosgrain ribbon.

And that's my whimsey's......for today. No hype, no TV/radio on for the next twenty four hours. I will vote of course and what will be will be.

Have a lovely, lovely day.
