Home Made Biscuits
I bought this nifty little biscuit press from 'Not on the High Street' a wee while ago - before the snow fell that is so there was no problem with it being delivered.
And what with all the cold and snow recently I've been baking on an almost daily basis, just to help keep the kitchen warm.
Plus when it's 'oh baby it's cold outside' and with the kitchen (in our house) being the heart of the home there is nothing like a yummy something wafting around as it's being baked.
'Oh yes' that's enough to warm you up even if the heating, fire and thermal socks are not hitting the spot. Oh and not forgetting the hot water bottle shoved up your jumper!
Anyhow, so the other day the littlest Boo and I set about making some biscuits from our favourite Nigella recipe and with a home made (goodness) emblem stamped onto them. Because that's exactly what they were - home made.
She did the rolling (with a little help) and the cutting whilst I did the stamping - it needed quite a bit of mummy pressure to achieve the perfect imprint.
Some of them baked OK and some of them kind of inflated in the oven - not to exploding point of course, but it meant that the pressed letters all kind of got merged into one so you couldn't really read the print anymore.
The kids scoffed those ones - they're not fussy!
And I - well I cut a little slot out of my one and slipped it onto the edge of my coffee cup.
Perfect for dunking and a nice little treat - if I do say so myself.
I hope you're all holding up with this wintry weather?
We're managing though we've only had a foot or so, but the shops are starting to look a little bit bare.
Well best go and get some more baking done - it's double chocolate fudge brownies this afternoon.
Have a super weekend.
