A couple of weeks ago - when it was still the Summer holidays - we decided to take a little trip out to a nearby neighbouring town - Sandwich.
The idea was to take the kids to the Secret Gardens over there, but as it so happens we never actually made it.
Instead the ever so lovely Mrs Flower and I did that last Thursday as a girlie get together for much chatting with a posh tea thrown in for good measure.
I did make a bit of a crumbie mess with a slice of fruit cake 'oh' the embarrassment, but hey ho.
Anyhoo, for all sorts of boring reasons 'why' that I honestly can't remember - the weather, the kids, it was a full moon........?! gawd knows, but we decided to stay on the waterside path and keep on going. To see where it would lead us - so to speak.
All thoughts of the Secret Garden completely forgotten.
After all the years we've lived here I haven't really explored Sandwich that much.
The Quay, the market and town are about as much as I can navigate so when Mrs Flower took me all over the place last Thursday - including some really rather lovely shops - I was like a wide eyed person all looking this way and that.
Released from the comforts of my home for a day!
Past the cricket ground and some rather wonderful gawpsome houses, across a road and into a little nature reserve.
I've heard rumours of this hidden spot of nature, but have never tried to seek it out for myself. Not until now.
We followed the path and found the ducks and a couple of baby moorhens hiding.
Unfortunately the box that contained bags of food was empty so we could only sit and watch the ducks watching us with interest.
All in all our little trip out took us about a hour or so. It got the kids out of the house for a while and I discovered a different part of a place I love so much.
Sorry if I seem a little gibber jabbering today - I'm all out of sorts and a bit lost for words after a very busy weekend.
I'm hoping the vast amount of pictures I took will make up for my nonsense speak today.
Happy Monday to one and all.
