I have a love affair with macarons.
The chewy little delicate circular disks of meringue sandwiched together with whipped or butter cream.
Now I know this is no secret because I have mentioned this particular craving of mine before here.
But even though I've had the desire I've never actually had the nerve to make my own.
So gawd knows why the urge took me at the weekend. A combination of the weather and boredom............maybe.
They didn't turn out perfect and to be honest I wasn't expecting them to.
It's all about precise measurements you see and I'm more of a 'bung it all in' baker rather then a food scientist, but give them I try I did.
They browned a little on their bottoms - I think that was to do with getting the oven temperature just right and our oven is a little unpredictable - but I did get a slight pied (or foot) plus the tops formed a nice skin which made them ever so slightly crispy and the centres 'wow' talk about melt in the mouth.
Teamed with whipped double cream 'oh my word' - they were heavenly.
So I'm guessing just as they were suppose to be and if I have to be totally honest - without blowing my own trumpet too much - so much nicer then the shop bought variety.
All I have to figure out now is what to do with three egg yolks!
Happy Monday to you all.
