Highlights

Easter seems to be rushing past me at the rate of *whoosh* this week - well it feels like it anyhow.

And I still haven't shown you any pictures of where we stayed for my birthday treat.

...So here goes...

Danesfield House nestled in the Buckinghamshire countryside over looking the Thames.

Amongst many things it's also a spa hotel so we did make the most of the facilities whilst we were there.

Including falling asleep outside - yep outside - in our swimming gear, on the sun loungers.  Both of us caught the sun......in March!  How bizarre is that.

Anyhoo, my weekend consisted of champagne teas, high heels, relaxation, lots of yummy food, sunshine, walking, laughter, more champagne and yummy food, falling asleep - quite often - and a belly full of giggles. We had 'the most' fabulous of weekends.

We did try and get reservations for the Fat Duck in Bray way back at the beginning of the year, but booking is fierce and the competition is high, almost stupidly so to be honest.

We were mildly disappointed to say the least, but in an area that boasts some of the most top Michelin star restaurants we managed to find alternative establishments to feast at.

The Hand and Flowers for lunch - chocolate pud with oozing salted caramel was my favourite.

In the evening we dined at The Waterside Inn - also in Bray - which was, well......'out of this world'

The food was spectacular and the atmosphere fantastic, no stiff upper lips or any stuffiness to be seen (or felt) at all.  To be honest I have never had the pleasure to eat at a  more friendlier, happy and 'oh so helpful' restaurant before.  Every need catered for and nothing was too much trouble - it was fabulous - being wined and dined - and I would go back in a shot.

A few other things were included in our weekend, but that was my birthday weekend, all secretly arranged and booked by my wonderful hubby.

Not something we could possible afford or do every day of the week, but a surprise and treat that I will hold dear to my heart and never, ever forget for the rest of my life.

Happy Easter holidays to you and I hope the weather is holding out - where ever you may be.

ps.  see that tower below - that was our hotel room......set out over three floors.
