Just when you think you know all about where you live, explored every angle, discovered everything - you stumble across something so completely different that it utterly changes the way you think about the place you call home.
That is exactly what happened to us at the weekend.
A spur of the moment decision led us out past Ramsgate and on towards Pegwell and along the coastal path to the Viking ship we've passed so many times before......in the car......but have never 'ever' stopped and taken a proper good old look - until now.
The walk out was spectacular with (almost) country on one side - knowing what leads out further and beyond - with horses and rapeseed fields and big wide open sky it was good enough for me to get my fix and the coast on the other with the contrast of seagulls squawking and martins bobbing and darting over our heads as we walked - it was brilliant and amazing all rolled into one.
It's definitely made us have a big old think - and look - about the things on our very doorstep that we pass every day, once a week or just know are there, but have never even bothered to check it out or go have a look......for ourselves. We've just passed it and gone 'that looks nice, maybe one day' - but what if one day never happens.
Do you have places like that where you live - on the 'one day' list?
How about a challenge?
How about discovering something new - to you - in your neighbourhood and link it back here in a comment for all that pass to find and maybe even discover themselves.
What do you think?
If I get a good response I'll create a whole new page dedicated to your discoveries that links back to you and your adventures.
I have a whole new list myself just waiting to be ticked off.
Have fun discovering.
