From the allotment

                                                                                                      the plate.

Last night we dined (almost) solely on the produced we'd picked from the allotment early yesterday evening.

Of course there were certain store cupboard ingredients we needed to pull it all together like cream, creme fraiche, olive oil and mustard, but the roots of it, the produce (apart from the celeriac) was all picked from the allotment.

I have to honestly admit - I've not dined so well or so lavishly with flavours that melted in the mouth since my birthday adventures back in April and several Michelin star restaurants.

{our home grown menu}

• Roast potato salad with rosemary and garlic.
- we dug some green garlic up.

• A fresh lettuce salad with nasturtiums and rocket flowers.

• Creamed broad beans with mint.

• Celeriac remoulade - which is basically celeriac, beetroot, walnuts,   mustard, creme fraiche and a few other bits.

Pudding was a fool made from strawberries we had also grown and picked that very afternoon.

All of these recipes (apart from the salad and fool) were found in Nigel Slater's 'Tender' volume I cookbook - thank you Mr Slater for your wisdom and your inspiration.

Home grown - you can't beat it.
