Impromptu splendor

One day last week when we were shower dodging (I love that thought) we decided to make an impromptu trip over to the local Kentish town of Sandwich.

The idea was to have a walk around the Secret Gardens, pop in to a few charity shops then catch a late lunch.

{What would you call that in the afternoon? Too late for lunch, but not quite dinner. Obviously not brunch - 'ouch' my brain hurts just trying to jumble words around trying to find something that sounds fitting}......

......I've been up with a poorly little one all night so I shouldn't be at all surprised if I read back on this in a couple of days time......when I've had some sleep and think 'what on earth!' oh well - that's sleep deprivation for you.

On approaching the little bridge that takes you into Sandwich - from the Thanet side - even before we'd crossed it, we could see the most magnificent boat of absolute splendor moored up.

And 'and' you were even aloud to step aboard and have a little mooch around - aye, aye Captain! Ding, ding.

She's called the Matthew Bristol and the mister of the house overheard (Mr Nosey what else) that she had been in the recent Jubilee pageant that sailed down the Thames.  So our guess was on leaving there she sailed around the coastline and moored up in Sandwich - on appointment of course.

In the end the rain was so lashing down so much we didn't get to see the Secret Gardens or have a little wander around the town.  But we did get to have our late lunch and of course the glee of seeing and mooching around the beautiful Matthew Bristol.

Not at all bad for a shower dodging day.
