Nina Nixon

I'm Nina, a photographer, film maker and forever wanderer.  Passionate about nature, the great outdoors and all of life's adventures.  This is the place where I keep all my 'field notes'

As in 'flower pickings' from around my garden.

Now I wouldn't say the garden I keep is an abundance that has me graced with freshly cut flowers on a weekly basis.  But at this time of the year I can pretty much guarantee on finding some kind of flower to fill a vessel with that I can then place in a strategic place around our home.

Eye-catching without the dodging back and forth to try and see the goggle box or hold a conversation at the table 'strategic' is the name of the game.

And with all the rain this month the flowers in the garden almost need rescuing, so bent over and bedraggled they are.

I haven't a clue what half of them are called, but I can spot a daisy and rose {of course} any day of the week and the rest are well......just pretty.

Anyhoo, my favourite 'choice' of flower vessel at the moment is an old Lyle's golden syrup tin that I saved from the recycling basket - I normally keep these for the garden as vivid plant holders - but this one just made me think 'I fancy something a bit different'.

And I have to say it's really doing the job well......though I may have to replace it at some point as it's going a little rusty, but I absolutely love it as it is.
Plus it's just as catching as the flowers themself.  The two were made for each other......once all the syrup has been eaten.

Happy Monday everyone and here's wishing you a wonderful start to a new week.
