Am I the worlds most fussiest (and worst) reader...ever? I would probably give that a big thumbs up if I was asked.
A book has to entice me from the very first moment.
From its cover - I know, I know never judge a book and all that!...to the opening page.
A good book for me, and I mean a really good book has to attract my eye, reel me in with its words, keep me wanting to turn to the next page...just to find out. Wondering and thinking about when I can next pick it up - if only to read a page or two whilst waiting for the kettle to boil. All housework abandoned, only the stuff out of necessity gets covered - like stopping to cook meals or go for a pee! Or have me constantly telling my family 'in a minute - let me just get to a good place to put it down'. That's when I know it's been a really good read.
The Woodcutter by Kate Danley 'yep...and then some!' is all I will say. Read in three'ish' days flat...and that's really good going for me with three kids and a house constantly on the go.
A brilliant read and a fascinating take on all that I've come to believe about fairy tales.
Don't you just hate that limbo feeling when you've finished a really good book?!
