This month has seen the pretty taken over the practical.
I always knew when I started an allotment part of it would be purely for the lovely stuff.
Sensory, visual...nice in the smelly department that I could cut - by the armful - filling vases to the brim, scattered around our home, passed on, given away (as gifts) to all my lovely friends and handed over the tops of waist height fences to fellow allotment neighbours in exchange for seedlings, freshly sprouted leeks and even Jack 'o' lantern pumpkin plants for this Halloween to carve...if they come up with the goodies.
Nasturtiums for your salad, fennel and dill for your fish? And did I mention the fresh green garlic and lovely new potatoes.
All I need to complete my circle is a friend/s with bees and hens. Honey and eggs for an armful of sweet pea, roses or a little later on...dahlias. A fair exchange don't you think?
So if you can't find me at home or my phone is on silent, you can pretty much guarantee this is where I'll be.
Oh yes - this little allotment of ours is coming very nicely indeed.
ps. I haven't mentioned strawberries because that's a whole other story.
