The Colour Collaborative :: September / Earth

If ever a month could symbolise one thing for me then it would most definitely stand out as being 'earth'.

Now I know my pictures look like they should be labelled 'green' but the word earth (for me) makes me think of the produce I grow, the very things that are supported by the earth.

Though it's not just is much, much more but how to explain without sounding like I live in my own little bubble - which I do - some of the time....ho hum.

Now I know it may sound strange, but I get this kind of feeling that starts in September making my senses tingle - the smell of Autumn in the air.  Does that make sense?

This is the month that my green fingers dwindle, the crops are starting to fade away...the harvest is almost in.

I crave walks in the woods as I kick leaves on my school run routine - if ever there was an ultimate aroma that signifies and sums it all up for me it would be walking in the woods on a damp September day, but woods are far and few between where I live so I get my fix where I can and start turning over the soil on my little allotment plot.

The earthiness of it all.

I'd love to be able to bottle that earthy, woodsy scent.  Growth dying back, damp leaves touching the ground all being turned over and pulled down by the worms....returning back to the earth.

Oh yes - September is definitely the month of earth for me that continues far beyond its reach and well into others...until the first frost settles.

What is The Colour Collaborative? All creative bloggers make stuff, gather stuff, shape stuff, and share stuff. Mostly they work on their own, but what happens when a group of us work together? Is a creative collaboration greater than the sum of its parts? We think so and we hope you will too. We'll each be offering our own monthly take on a colour related theme, and hoping that in combination our ideas will encourage us, and perhaps you, to think about colour in new ways.
