Nina Nixon

I'm Nina, a photographer, film maker and forever wanderer.  Passionate about nature, the great outdoors and all of life's adventures.  This is the place where I keep all my 'field notes'

Curiosity prickled the finger.

In all my years of foraging for chestnuts, and that's pretty much all my life - my mum started me off at a very early age as chestnut stuffing was a must have (on the side) extra with our Christmas dinner, it's always been the way - have I ever seen such an abundance hanging, literally weighing down the branches, from every single sweet chestnut tree.  And they are huge!  Like tennis ball huge.

'What does a chestnut in their shell feel like mum?' - said the little one.

...'that's' what it feels like' - replied the mum (me).

Sometimes curiosity can give you a momentary shock.

We shall be back in a few week to gather as many as we can.  Chestnuts roasted on the fire is my grown up equivalent to my mum's chestnut's a must.
