We were so lucky between Christmas and New Year to get the snow. Mince pies and figgy pudding were ditched as we spent our last few days of 2014 outdoors, exploring all that winter had to offer us. Right on our doorstep.
It started falling Boxing Day evening. Too late to wake the girls but by the time we arose the following day it was crisp and lay covered, like a freshly laundered blanket, snuggling everything in white.
We have so many different directions to choose from our house, going up into the hills, but we decided to opt for the one that kept us on foot and out for the longest.
Our little troop being one of the first to leave our footprints in the freshness of the powdery stuff.
The snowy trek took us four hours in total. Only a ravenous hunger and thirst for hot chocolate saw us heading for home. With rosy cheeks we traipsed back down the hills passing eager eyed adventurous folks and the odd snowman observing their surrounding from hillside lookout posts.
I do hope we see a little more snow, it makes everything so beautifully bright....enchanting,
