February is one of those tricky months.

Still deep in Winter all cold and grey, but with the sudden promise and surprise in offering you a most beautiful and glorious day that catches your breath and takes the blues away.  It's almost worth falling in love with February, despite knowing the pain she can cause with a mood that could change so swiftly leaving you feeling even more bad tempered and blue.

We ventured to Rode Hall on Valentines day, not for any other reason than the promise of snowdrops and Spring tempting us in the air.

With the tingling warmth of locally homemade hot elderflower cordial sampled at the tearooms before we set off on our search of these pale beauties through the enchanting landscaped gardens and woodland walk with an earthiness that made me feel light headed.

Who needs love in the air when you have fresh air, blue skies and a crisp Winters' day....and every kind of snowdrop.

The snowdrops (and walk) can be found at from now until the 8th February.
