I love nothing more than to mooch around a good farmers market, basket in hand ready to fill with all things delicious and wonderful. It's the one thing you can guarantee will shove me from my slumber and get me up early on a weekend morning. All cheery and excited with anticipation.
Once a month Rode Hall at Scholar Green in Cheshire holds such a farmers market for local growers and independents to come together and offer their wares. It's a great way to see, sample and buy the goods that are sourced locally and to taste the very finest the region has to offer.
Of course the wealth of knowledge on offer is also a bonus. Why be shy when you create and produce such an array of delectables in all manner of ways. Variety to tantalise the senses.
For me part of the experience is to spend time chatting to the stall holders, finding out all there is to know. How they started out, which is never an easy path if you are a small independent and the concept behind those sparks of creation. Passion always stands out, tall and proud and each conversation oozes with enthusiasm.
The farmers market at Rode is held on the first Saturday of each month (apart from January) 9am to 1.30pm and you can find all information here. The next one being the 1st August.
It's a great way to meet the locals and discover a local area. Even if you are just passing through.
