Autumn mood

I seem to have jumped straight from long summer days were the holidays were easy living right into the middle of autumn.

The season of dark and dank, earthy tones and misty mornings mingle with the smell of decay.

Plums

When we moved here we were knee deep in darkness, the depths of winter had set in and our eyes accustomed to the long drawn out nights.

The garden appeared barren, dormant and desolate.  All the tress stood still with twisted branches that looked like veins silhouetting the bleak landscape.  But we had trees on our small patch of earth and for me that was all I needed to get me through to spring.

Wander and Gather

Last night whilst packing up our (rented) house to move to pastures green and searching high and low for the 'right kind of box' to place all our foraged bits and bobs in to it occurred to me, that whenever we go out - whether it's the comfort of our back porch or for a longer hike in to the hills...over dale or down the road - we always come back with some kind of treasure.
